US former ambassador to Armenia John Evans published an article in "The National Interest" magazine titled "Will Trump ignore Nagorno-Karabakh president’s visit?". Evans expressed an opinion that this time the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh president Bako Sahakyan’s visit to Washington will not get suitable attention from American authorities.
"Washington does not recognize Artsakh, in fact, it does not do any country. However, former NKR President, who visited to the US in 1999 and 2002, met with State Department officials. There are also official representative of residents of Nagorno-Karabakh in Washington. Within the framework of the visit Sahakyan will be received only in Capitol", writes US former ambassador to Armenia.
According to him US authorities should improve relationships with Artsakh which strives to democracy.
"It is time for Nagorno-Karabakh/Artsakh to be included in global community", says Evans, confirming the importance of recognizing the second Armenian republic at the international level.
In his article the American diplomat also writes that Artsakh fights for its independence under the threat of military force.
Let us mention that US former ambassador to Armenia was included in the "black list" of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry for his visit to Artsakh.
