French President Macron declares economic emergency
![]() 2747 Monday, 10 December, 2018, 23:50 President Emmanuel Macron addressed the Nation on Yellow Vests protest, declaring an economic state of emergency. Macron tried to pour some cold water on protests by announcing a special year-end bonus that will be exempted of taxes, an increase of €100 for minimum wage and also a tax exemption on extra-hours. He also announced the partial cancellation of the social tax hike, in a last-ditch effort to soothe public anger. EUR takes notice, extending its daily decline against most rivals. |
