Christ the Redeemer lit up for #coronavirus solidarity
![]() 3029 Thursday, 19 March, 2020, 18:35 Rio de Janeiro's Christ the Redeemer statue was lit up last night with images of continents grappling with the coronavirus pandemic in a show of global solidarity. At least 8,710 people have died from Covid-19, and 204,487 have been infected globally, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China in early December. The World Health Organization categorised the outbreak as a pandemic on 11 March. |
