Today, the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan has officially stated that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces may launch missile attacks on the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) of the Republic of Armenia.

This is a clear criminal threat to the entire population of the Republic of Armenia. Such a statement demonstrates an obvious intent to commit a serious war crime. It can precipitate a humanitarian disaster not only in Armenia but for the entire region.

This statement is an apparent intimidation and terrorism threat towards the civilian population, which is absolutely prohibited under the international humanitarian law.

This statement violates fundamental principles of international humanitarian law and infringes the basic fundamentals of public international law. Such intentions undermine the international system of human rights and humanitarian protection.
