#Bloomberg: Cyprus blocking #EU sanctions against Belarus
![]() 2302 Thursday, 10 September, 2020, 13:30 Cyprus is blocking the adoption of EU sanctions against Belarus, Bloomberg reports. The island state is seeking the introduction of similar measures against Turkey. For agreeing with the proposed measures against Minsk, Cyprus expects to see seven Turkish companies in the EU sanctions lists. They are involved in the production of natural gas in the Eastern Mediterranean, the economic zone of Cyprus. The adoption of restrictions against Minsk requires the consent of all 27 EU countries. Almost 40 high-ranking Belarusians may face a ban on entry to the EU and freezing of accounts. |
