Biden in first State of the Union: Putin has no idea what awaits him
![]() 1524 Wednesday, 02 March, 2022, 10:24 The speech by US President Joe Biden, a so-called ‘State of the Union’, was about the state of his country. Biden, however, mainly spoke about the war in Ukraine. The US president announced a new drastic sanction: his country’s airspace will be closed to Russian planes. Europe and Canada have already decided to do so. ''Russian President Putin is now completely isolated from the world,” Biden said. He called Putin the ''Russian dictator” in his speech. Biden said Putin thought he could tear the West apart by invading Ukraine. However, that did not happen, according to the American president. ''We are stronger than ever,'' said Biden, emphasizing that even neutral countries like Switzerland have decided to hit Russia with sanctions. ''Putin has no idea what awaits him,'' Biden said. He believes that the world is currently fighting between democracies or autocracies. ''Putin may be able to make an advance on the battlefield, but in the long run he will pay a heavy price for this,'' Biden continued. |
