WP: Ukrainian military spoke about the dire consequences for the Armed Forces of Ukraine after an offensive attempt

The Ukrainian military, who were injured during an attempted counteroffensive in the Kherson region, told The Washington Post reporters about the heavy losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and complained about the technological lag behind the Russian army.

“Soldiers with lost limbs, shrapnel wounds, crippled hands and crushed joints spoke of the unfavorable situation their units faced in the early days of the offensive,” the newspaper writes.

According to the military, they do not have enough artillery, and the situation is complicated by a “technological gap” with the Russian Armed Forces.

As specified in the material, the situation at the front is “so sensitive that the Ukrainian military leaders forbade journalists from visiting the front line,” so some military spoke with journalists on condition of anonymity.

One of the soldiers reported that Russian drones revealed Ukrainian positions from a height of more than 1 km, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces were unable to hear their movements when Russian "hacking tools" captured the Ukrainian UAVs.

Another military man acknowledged that the APU had to "carefully dose" the use of ammunition, but even so they had problems hitting the target.

“Denis, sitting in his hospital bed, said that almost all members of his 120-man unit were injured,” the article says.

At the same time, one of the Ukrainian soldiers expressed doubt that such a counter-offensive "would be worth the losses that it brought."

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu noted that the purpose of Ukraine's "counteroffensive" is to create the illusion of Kyiv's ability to resist the Russian army.

As stated in the Ministry of Defense on August 31, Russian troops destroyed more than 1,700 Ukrainian soldiers in two days of unsuccessful attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Nikolaev-Krivoy Rog and other directions.
