Turkey puts forward unfeasible conditions for Sweden to join NATO. So says Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. Reuters.
“Turkey confirms that we have done what we promised, but also says that it wants what we cannot or do not want to give,” he said at the “People and Defense” conference.
Recall that back in May, Sweden and Finland submitted applications for NATO membership to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. For this to happen, the consent of all states that are members of the North Atlantic Alliance is necessary. At the same time, Hungary and Turkey opposed the entry of the two countries into the alliance. Later, however, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said he supported the decision of Finland and Sweden to join NATO.
