More than 1,440 dead in Syria after earthquake
![]() 991 Tuesday, 07 February, 2023, 12:24 At least 1,444 people died Monday across Syria after a devastating earthquake that had its epicentre in southwestern Turkey, the government and rescuers said. In government-controlled areas the toll rose to "1,431 injured and 711 dead in the provinces of Aleppo, Latakia, Hama, Tartus", Syria's health ministry said. In rebel-held parts of the country's northwest, at least 733 people were killed and more than 2,100 injured, according to the White Helmets rescue group. |
