Zakharova: Western efforts hinder the process of peaceful settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, expressed hope that the peace initiatives developed together with Russia will be implemented in the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.

“This region can be called in a literal sense a nodal region, another region where there is still hope that the peace initiatives agreed by the parties together with Russia will be implemented”,- said Zakharova on Wednesday on Radio Sputnik.
Zakharova called the attempts of the West to infiltrate the situation in the South Caucasus rude. In her view, such a policy was not intended to resolve the conflict, but with "exactly opposite objectives". "“Unfortunately, we have been observing such a trend here for many years. Now the Westerners are even more active," added the diplomat.
