Land and building of the Russian Center for Science and Culture arrested in Finland
![]() 961 Tuesday, 18 April, 2023, 23:36 In Finland, under EU sanctions, the land and building of the Russian Center for Science and Culture (RCSC) belonging to the Russian Federation, as well as seven apartments in Helsinki, three of which are nearby immediately from the RCSC, were arrested, reports Finland’s largest newspaper Helsingin sanomat, citing the debt collection department. “According to the decision made by the bailiffs a week ago, land and an office building at Nordenskiöldinkatu 1 (address of RCSC) have been stopped. According to the certificate of ownership of real estate, the land belongs to the Federation of Russia, and earlier to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics”, – says the message. Arrest is an interim measure during which the Russian Federation is not allowed to transfer, destroy or pledge property. It is specified that the area of the property seized is 3326 square meters. In addition, the prosecution service seized seven apartments in Helsinki associated with “those under EU sanctions”, three apartments are near the RCSC. The area of the arrested apartments ranges from 36 to 175 square meters, the newspaper reports. As reported on April 1, the Debt Collection Service blocked RCSC’s bank accounts in Nordea Bank. The Russian Embassy in Finland has indicated that it is in contact with the Finnish authorities, in order to study the means of ensuring the work of the Russian representative office, which carries out an important humanitarian mission in the current difficult conditions. |
