In an unprecedented move, Finland has stepped up to bolster its artillery ammunition production to support Ukraine. This decision was announced by Finnish Defense Minister Antti Hakkanen during an interview with the Iltalehti newspaper. The move is a response to the European Union’s ongoing struggle to meet its commitment to deliver 1 million shells to Ukraine by March 2024.
With Russia’s defense budget showing a steady increase, Finland has successfully concluded negotiations to escalate munition production. A firm decision on the matter is anticipated before Christmas.
