A legal counsel for South Korea’s impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol said on Tuesday that Yoon’s short-lived martial law declaration did not constitute insurrection, Yonhap news agency reported.
Yoon will express his position when a public hearing is held and will fight accusations of insurrection in court, Seok Dong-hyun, a lawyer and an ex-prosecutor who helps Yoon, was quoted by media as saying.
The legal counsel declined to say whether Yoon would comply with a summons to appear for questioning on Dec. 21, Yonhap reported. Seok was not immediately reachable for comment.
