Rubio welcomed the extension of EU sanctions against Russia

During a telephone conversation with the head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio welcomed the extension of EU sanctions against Russia.

"The Secretary of State welcomed the extension of EU sanctions against Russia," the State Department said in a statement on its website.

It is noted that during the conversation, the parties also discussed ways to deepen cooperation on common priorities.

In addition, Rubio stressed the need to strengthen transatlantic security, called on the EU to increase defense spending, and also pointed to challenges from China.
