Ocampo։ Yerevan cannot stop the investigation of crimes against Armenians at the ICC

Yerevan cannot stop the investigation of crimes against Armenians at the ICC, although it has the right to withdraw the claims. Former Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Luis Moreno Ocampo stated this in a video message published on his X page.
“In any case, the Prosecutor has the right to continue the investigation of crimes from the moment of the extension of jurisdiction, May 10, 2021, and for one year after the withdrawal,” he said.
The Armenian authorities ratified the Rome Statute of the ICC a year ago, arguing that this would allow them to file claims at the court against Baku’s aggression and war crimes, including the invasion of the territory of the Republic of Armenia in 2021-2022.
