Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky may “save relations” with US President Donald Trump by accepting a rare earth metals deal with the US, Politico reports, citing sources in the White House.

According to the publication’s sources, Trump’s “harsh attacks” on Ukraine are not a turn toward Russia, but rather are related to indignation over Kyiv’s reaction to attempts to conclude a $500 billion deal.

“There is a small but vocal wing of the Republican Party that is extremely anti-Ukrainian, but there are many within it who are still pro-Ukrainian. Attacking Trump only adds fuel to the fire,” said one anonymous source.
