#Politico: Hungary proposed to be stripped of voting rights in EU
![]() 496 Wednesday, 05 March, 2025, 22:32 MEPs demanded the EU Council explore the possibility of stripping Hungary of its EU voting rights in a clash with Budapest over the rule of law. MEPs from the "Volt Europa" party will send European leaders an action plan ahead of the EU summit on March 6, which includes stripping Hungary of its voting rights in the community. This was reported by the European publication Politico. According to the publication, the legislators' plan consists of nine points. In addition to stripping Hungary of its voting rights, MEPs call for making the head of European diplomacy Kaja Kallas a full-fledged minister of foreign affairs of the community, creating a common European army, and expanding the EU's powers in the field of defense. Earlier, Politico reported that EU leaders are suspending the development of a new €20 billion military aid package for Kyiv, proposed by Kallas, due to Hungary's objections. |
