On March 12, the European Parliament plenary session discussed a resolution on the sham trials of Armenian prisoners illegally held in Baku.

More than a year has passed since Azerbaijan’s attack on Nagorno-Karabakh, but Armenians have still not healed their wounds. This was stated by MEP Geadis Geadi from Cyprus at the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

“The repression of Armenians continues. Unfortunately, the Aliyev regime not only does not respect international law and human rights, but also continues to illegally occupy the territory of Armenia.

The European Union must defend democratic values. The EU must firmly stand against Azerbaijan and Turkey, which are international criminals. We must put an end to the ethnic cleansing that is taking place against Armenians, Greeks and Cypriots,” Geadis Geadi stated.

MEP Vasile Dincu from Romania also touched upon the issue of Armenian prisoners of war held in Baku.

“The situation of Armenian political prisoners held in Baku raises serious questions about justice, stability and peace in the Caucasus. Sanctions must be imposed on Azerbaijani officials, especially those involved in these judicial abuses. We must severely punish these officials and discourage further abuses. The outlook is far from positive. We must act now and take concrete steps to prevent future tragedies,” said Vasile Dincu.
