The first session of the new Bundestag, formed after the early February elections, will take place on March 25. On the same day, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his ministers will receive official notices of resignation from President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. CDU leader Friedrich Merz, who is running for chancellor, promised to present the composition of the new cabinet by April 20. In accordance with the Basic Law of Germany, the previous government will continue to perform its duties until the new one is formed. |
