Zakharova:"Russia is in favor of resuming the work of the Armenia-Russia-Azerbaijan trilateral commission as soon as possible"

Russia is in favor of resuming the work of the trilateral commission of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan as soon as possible. This was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova during a briefing.

“The work of the commission was stopped due to the destructive influence of the West, as well as the sometimes questionable position of the Armenian authorities,” she said.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Overchuk reported that the work of the trilateral commission at the level of the deputy prime ministers of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan has not been stopped, but is currently in a “frozen” state.

At the same time, the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry refused to comment on the statement of the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Alen Simonyan that Yerevan does not intend to return to the format of the Armenia-Azerbaijan-Russia working group at the level of deputy prime ministers.

"I would like to remind you that the work related to the unblocking of transport communications in the South Caucasus has been entrusted to the coordinating deputy prime ministers. In Armenia, this issue is being dealt with not by the statesman you mentioned (Alen Simonyan), but by someone else. I don't even want to comment on the specific statement of a specific person, precisely because we proceed from the fact that this is not within his jurisdiction," Zakharova said.
