As of 29th March, the disaster has resulted in at least 1,002 fatalities and 2,376 injuries, with many individuals still reported missing. The casualty figures are expected to rise, although there have been no reports of Chinese nationals among the deceased. Following the initial quake, the Myanmar Meteorological and Hydrological Department reported 12 aftershocks, with the strongest measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale and the weakest at 2.8. |
