Assad's father's remains were removed from the grave and taken away
![]() 2144 Monday, 28 April, 2025, 19:27 In Syria, unknown individuals entered the tomb of Assad’s father, Hafez al-Assad, located in the Alawite town of Qardaha, southeast of Latakia, and desecrated his remains. Footage of the smashed tombstone and an open grave has been posted online. The body of the founder of Syria’s Alawite ruling dynasty, who died in 2000, has been stolen and taken to an unknown destination, Arab media reported.
