Mexican mayoral candidate gunned down during live broadcast of campaign rally

On May 12, Yesenia Larru Gutierrez, a candidate for mayor of Texistepec, a candidate from the ruling Morena party, was shot dead during a campaign rally in Mexico. CNN reports.

Five people were killed in the attack, including the candidate's daughter.

This is the second such killing of a candidate in Veracruz, just weeks before the June 1 election.
