U.S. President Donald Trump's special envoys, Steve Witkoff and Keith Kellogg, will travel to Istanbul for possible peace talks between Ukraine and Russia, Reuters reported on May 13, citing three undisclosed sources.
Recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin offered Ukraine to start direct negotiations in Istanbul on May 15.
Earlier, Mikhail Podoliak, an adviser to the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, said that the Ukrainian president was ready to negotiate in Istanbul only with Putin.
The Kremlin has not yet specified who will represent Russia at the talks in Istanbul.
“This will be announced as soon as Putin considers it necessary,” said Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president.
