Britain restores diplomatic relations with Syria

Britain has restored diplomatic relations with Syria following the first visit by a British minister to the country in 14 years, the Foreign Office said in a statement published on the British government's website on Saturday.
"The UK has formally restored diplomatic relations with the Syrian government following the Foreign Secretary's visit to Damascus today," the document said.
It is noted that this was the first visit by a British minister to Syria in 14 years.
