"We did not request a meeting with the American side" - Bagai

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei has denied claims by US President Donald Trump that Tehran has allegedly requested a meeting with American negotiators.

“We have not made any request for a meeting with the American side,” Baghaei said.

Trump had earlier said that Iran had “requested a meeting” and that if the talks could “put something on paper, that would be great.”

According to US President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, the US-Iran talks are likely to take place next week.
