Ongoing wildfires on day nine | Cutting roads and threatening homes in Latakia

Latakia Province: wildfires since July 3 continue burning farmlands in Latakia, as fears grow of further spread into residential areas.
According to SOHR sources, flames have reached several areas in Latakia countryside, including Burj Zahiyah, Al-Farnlaq forests, Naba’ Al-Marfi, and Al-Shajra village near Kasab, posing a direct threat to civilians’ homes and causing panic among locals.
The fire has also cut the main road between Latakia and Kasab, hampering evacuation and blocking relief teams from reaching affected areas.
Civil defence teams are still battling to bring the fire under control on its ninth day, amid harsh weather, strong winds, and fast-spreading flames through dense mountain forests.
This evening, SOHR activists reported that nearly 25 firefighting vehicles, accompanied by Iraqi civil defence teams, arrived today in Al-Bokamal city, eastern Deir Ezzor, before continuing towards the Syrian coast to join extinguishing wildfires in several areas.
This comes as part of regional support and solidarity with Syria to confront the ongoing disaster, amid continued efforts to contain the fires which have caused huge damage to forests and agricultural.
