The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained the chief of police at the Nizhny Novgorod airport, Namig Musayev, on suspicion of organizing illegal migration.
According to the investigation, the lieutenant colonel created a route through which migrants entered Russia in exchange for money.
Musayev was closely connected with the Azerbaijani diaspora in the region and, apparently, used this influence, the FSB concluded.
