The head of the State Duma's Information Policy Committee, Sergei Boyarsky, said that rumors about the possible shutdown of the WhatsApp application in Russia on August 1 are unfounded.
Earlier, information about the upcoming blocking of the messenger appeared in some media outlets.
"Colleagues, with all due respect, I cannot afford to comment on rumors and suspicious leaks from unreliable sources," Boyarsky wrote on his Telegram channel.
