![]() 596 Tuesday, 29 July, 2025, 00:39 After beginning play over the weekend in front of The Fantastic Four: First Steps screenings, 20th Century Studios‘ trailer for James Cameron‘s Avatar: Fire and Ash has dropped. It’s the first look at the third installment of the franchise, and comes ahead of its planned December 19, 2025 release. “You can’t live like this baby — in hate!” exclaims Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) to his wife, Na’vi warrior Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña). As we’ve known coming out of the press tour for Avatar: The Way of Water, not all Na’vi clans are nice, and we have known for a while the Ash People were going to be trouble. And the military humans led by Recom Miles Quaritch aren’t letting up. Also shown here, Sully’s children are in peril again, as expressed by Neytiri, and human friend Spider continues to get in entanglements. By the way, that’s Oona Chaplin as the Ash Queen Varang, and she’s a doozy. She exclaims to Sigourney Weaver’s Kiri, “Your goddess has no dominion here.” Oooohh. Also returning for part three is Cliff Curtis, Britain Dalton, Trinity Bliss, Jack Champion, Bailey Bass and Kate Winslet. Cameron directs and wrote the script with Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver, from a story by Cameron & Jaffa & Silver & Josh Friedman & Shane Salerno. Avatar: The Way of Water hit an opening franchise record for the Cameron films with $134 million domestic, $441.7M worldwide. That second film ended its run at $2.32 billion, becoming the third highest-grossing movie ever at the global box office. Combined, the Avatar movies have grossed $5.24 billion, with the first 2009 movie remaining the highest-grossing movie ever with $2.92 billion.
