Azerbaijani coach tried to choke referee at European Boxing Championship
![]() 12945 Tuesday, 29 July, 2025, 17:15 During the final bout between Azerbaijani Yusif Agakishiev and Serbian Viktor Majstorovic at the European Boxing Championships in Serbia, the Azerbaijani coach tried to choke the referee because he was dissatisfied with his work. Agakishiev’s coach entered the ring and attacked the referee so violently that additional people rushed to help him free him. The Azerbaijani athlete and coach were disqualified, and the gold medal was awarded to the Azerbaijani’s Serbian opponent. The European Sports Confederation is now considering sanctions against the coach who interrupted the tournament. |
