Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko had a telephone conversation with his American counterpart Donald Trump. This was reported by the Telegram channel "Pool of the First", which is close to the press service of the Belarusian president.
"Lukashenko and Trump spoke on the phone," the report says.
The call came ahead of Trump-Putin talks in Alaska tonight.
“The purpose was to thank him for releasing 16 prisoners. We are also discussing the release of 1,300 more,” Trump said.
He added that Washington and Minsk also discussed a summit in Anchorage to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.
