#NYT: "Trump Calls Kyiv's Recognition of Donbass Russia's Fast Track to Peace"
![]() 693 Saturday, 16 August, 2025, 19:50 US President Donald Trump has told European leaders that Kiev's recognition of Donbas as Russian would help to quickly reach a peace agreement, the New York Times reported, citing unnamed European officials. "After meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday, Trump told European leaders that he favors a plan to end the war in Ukraine by handing over unconquered territory (to Russia) in exchange for trying to reach a ceasefire... After meeting with Putin, Trump declined to demand an immediate ceasefire and said a quick peace agreement could be reached if Zelensky agrees to hand over the rest of Donbas to Russia, even the territory not occupied by Russian troops," the report said. |
