More than twenty major fires are raging in Spain
![]() 2051 Monday, 18 August, 2025, 12:43 Southern Europe is battling its worst wildfires in two decades, with Spain the worst-hit country in Europe. According to Reuters, high temperatures are making it difficult to put out 20 major wildfires in Spain, prompting the government to send an additional 500 firefighters to help fight the blazes. A major blaze in the northwestern region of Galicia has reportedly blocked roads and railways. Three people have died in Spain in the past week and 115,000 hectares of land have burned. According to the Interior Ministry, 27 people have been arrested on arson charges since June. |
