The first Ukrainians were deported from the United States
![]() 946 Tuesday, 19 August, 2025, 19:48 The first deported citizens from the United States returned to Ukraine. This was announced on August 19 by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). "Below are photos of the first minutes of the return home of Ukrainian immigrants from the United States," the agency said in a publication on the social network X. The agency published two photos from the Ukrainian border. They depict employees of the Ukrainian border guard service, as well as civilians who probably arrived from the United States. On May 20, the administration of US President Donald Trump announced its intention to deport 200,000 Ukrainian refugees from the country who previously had temporary protection status. The deportations will be funded from $250 million that was previously earmarked for foreign aid. It is specified that the administration of former US President Joe Biden for the first time granted temporary protected status to citizens of Ukraine in 2022 after the outbreak of the conflict in the country. Earlier, on May 6, it was reported that the White House administration called on Ukraine to accept third-party citizens deported from the United States. Such a request indicates Trump's desire to protect the streets of his country from an increase in crime by curbing illegal migration. |
