Aliyev: "Now that Trump has given his name to the Zangezur Corridor, it will be implemented in the near future"

Now that the “Zangezur Corridor” bears Trump’s name, I am confident that it will be implemented in the near future. This was stated by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

“When President Trump and his team joined this process and wanted to help advance it, we conveyed to them the following: “For the operation of the Zangezur Corridor and for the citizens of Azerbaijan to safely travel along this route of more than forty kilometers, there must be reliable security guarantees, international security guarantees. Security guarantees provided by Armenia alone will not be enough.”

The Trump administration has responded with due attention to our legitimate concerns. Thus, TRIPP, or the Trump International Peace and Prosperity Initiative, was born. Now that President Trump has given his name to the Zangezur Corridor, I am confident that it will be implemented in the near future. As for the construction of infrastructure, I mean the railway, it should not take long, since the route is only 42 kilometers. "If we were to build it, we would do it within a year, because we have more experience in building railways. Armenia may need a few more years", Aliev said.
