President Donald Trump let the first lady light the National Christmas Tree at a ceremony in the nation’s capital Thursday evening.
“The first lady is going to do the honors,” Trump said.
He counted down from five to zero, and Melania Trump stepped forward and pressed a button that made the tree behind them sparkle with gold-toned lights.
The ceremony has been held for over 100 years, with Calvin Coolidge being the first to light the Christmas tree in 1923.
