Reaching a deal with Iran will be difficult, says US secretary of state
![]() 1139 Monday, 16 February, 2026, 16:21 It will be hard to make a deal with Iran, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Monday, a day before a second round of talks between Tehran and Washington. “Look, doing a deal with Iran is not easy,” Rubio told reporters at a press conference with Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban. He said US negotiators were on their way to the talks and that he would not prejudge the outcome. “I’m certainly not going to negotiate with Iran here in front of the press,” Rubio said. “We’ll see what happens. We’re hopeful there’s a deal.” |
