Aliyev: Armenia will become a transit country for the first time in its history of independence
![]() 1639 Thursday, 12 March, 2026, 11:43 Armenia will become a transit country for the first time in its history of independence, President Ilham Aliyev said during the opening ceremony of the 13th Global Baku Forum, APA reports. “After peace is achieved with Armenia, we are closely cooperating on the creation of a new branch of the Middle Corridor. This route will pass through the territory of Armenia, and Armenia will become a transit country for the first time in its history of independence. At present, it does not have such a status. This project will make it possible to connect the two parts of Azerbaijan – the mainland and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic – through a sustainable transport line, energy line, fiber-optic cable, electricity lines and potentially pipelines. This will create a beneficial situation for everyone. Because both parts of Azerbaijan will be connected through transport infrastructure, and the new transport corridor will create additional opportunities for many countries,” the head of state noted. |
