Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that the new Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, has been injured.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said this in a statement to Corriere della Sera.
“He (Mojtaba Khamenei) was injured, but his health condition is good,” Baghaei noted.
The Foreign Ministry official emphasized that he does not know when Mojtaba Khamenei will make his first public appearance.
According to him, there were three or four candidates for the post of Supreme Leader, but the majority of the Assembly of Experts elected Mojtaba Khamenei.
