French mayor dies after confrontation with yachtsman, investigation underway

Dominique Rousselot, the mayor of the French commune of Locmaria on the island of Belle-Île-en-Mer, has died following a confrontation with a yachtsman in the island's harbour, according to Le Figaro, citing a source close to the investigation.
The source said police were called to the scene of an altercation on the evening of July 5. When officers arrived, they found Rousselot on the waterfront suffering from cardiac arrest.
Despite several attempts to resuscitate him, the mayor was pronounced dead.
According to the source, there were no visible signs of physical violence on Rousselot's body, and investigators have not yet determined the exact cause or circumstances of his death.
The suspect, identified as a 55-year-old yacht owner, was taken into custody after initially refusing to cooperate with law enforcement, the report said.
According to the source cited by Le Figaro, the man was previously known to police in connection with alleged acts of aggravated violence.
