France recorded 131 drowning deaths since June 19 amid heatwave, minister says

French Sports Minister Marina Ferrari said on Friday that 131 people had died in the country from drowning since June 19 when a heatwave sent temperatures soaring across Europe.
Last week, French Health Minister Stephanie Rist said there were 2,025 excess deaths recorded in France during the June heatwave, with a particular increase in deaths among people aged over 45.
