In Nepal, 21 people have died as a result of severe landslides and floods.

Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah confirmed that 21 people have died and five others are missing following severe floods and landslides triggered by incessant rains in various parts of Nepal, according to Nepal News.

The Prime Minister expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and emphasized that security forces are deployed throughout the country for search and rescue operations and assistance to the victims.

The disaster caused significant damage to vital national infrastructure, disrupting critical transport and energy networks. More than a dozen major sections of roads were blocked by landslides and collapsed roads. Power supply has been completely disrupted in some areas of Nepal. Flooding on the Rahuganga River also damaged hydroelectric power station infrastructure and power transmission towers.

Authorities are warning of possible flash floods in 50 of the country's 77 districts. More than half of these districts remain at high risk of flooding and mudslides due to rising water levels in major rivers and their tributaries.

Cross-border travel between Nepal and India in the Gaddachauki district has been suspended due to rising water levels in the Mahakali River.
