US President Donald Trump said Monday that Iran, not the United States, started the war between the two countries, speaking at a campaign rally in Mississippi ahead of the November midterm elections.
“We didn’t start the war with Iran. Iran started the war with us,” Trump said.
Trump pointed to Iran’s actions against the United States dating back to 1979 and said Americans had been killed over the years.
“They were killing our people for years,” Trump said.
