One hundred bloggers and journalists detained in Belarus before May 9

On May 11, blogger Sergei Petrukhin was arrested for streaming from the April rally against the construction of a battery plant near Brest. Another blogger Sergei Tikhanovsky was detained on May 6 near Mogilev. A blogger criticizes power and life in Belarus. During the rallies demanding the release of Tikhanovsky, his colleagues, spectators and journalists covering the protests were detained. Also in Babruisk, Tikhanovsky’s supporters were detained, who were trying to organize an “anti-parade” by May 9, when the official one was held in Minsk. |
