One hundred bloggers and journalists detained in Belarus before May 9
![]() 1829 Tuesday, 12 May, 2020, 15:25 Human rights activists in Belarus claim that on the eve of and after Victory Day, authorities detained more than 100 opposition journalists and bloggers who took part in online broadcasts in which they talked about the situation in the country’s regions. It is reported Russian service of the BBC with reference to the spring human rights center. On May 11, blogger Sergei Petrukhin was arrested for streaming from the April rally against the construction of a battery plant near Brest. He was accused of violating the organization and conduct of public events. is he has coronavirus symptoms, but they don’t do the test. Another blogger Sergei Tikhanovsky was detained on May 6 near Mogilev. A blogger criticizes power and life in Belarus. During the rallies demanding the release of Tikhanovsky, his colleagues, spectators and journalists covering the protests were detained. Also in Babruisk, Tikhanovsky’s supporters were detained, who were trying to organize an “anti-parade” by May 9, when the official one was held in Minsk. |
