Chinese leader Xi Jinping has called on the citizens to reduce food wastes.
He noted that grain production in the country was growing steadily, but stressed the need to understand the risks in the sphere of food security.
Jinping said it is necessary to improve legislation, control, take adequate measures, and create a long-term mechanism to prevent excess food waste.
It is necessary to strengthen propaganda and education, effectively develop the habit of moderation and economy in food, create an atmosphere of shame in society for squandering food and pride in saving, Xinhua quotes the Chinese leader.
