North Korea has banned “malet” haircuts, skinny jeans and some types of piercings to protect the country from the “declining” trends of Western fashion.

The measures came after an article in the official Rodon Sinmun newspaper called for more to be done “to prevent capitalist culture from” occupying “the country, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported.

Rodon Sinmun has published an article in which it is concerned that young people in North Korea are increasingly following Western fashion trends.
“We must beware of even the smallest signs of a capitalist lifestyle and strive to get rid of them,” the article reads.
Authorities reportedly outlawed all but six of the haircuts and issued an order for “correct” haircuts.

Nose and lip piercings, skinny jeans and branded T-shirts are also prohibited.
