Turkey has started the procedure for the purchase of F-16 multirole fighter aircraft from the United States, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar (pictured) announced on Saturday.

As quoted by the Anadolu news agency, the minister noted that the "technical work on the acquisition of the F-16 has begun."
