Russia’s recognition of the independence of the self-proclaimed Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics will be a violation of the Minsk agreements, OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau told reporters after the meeting of EU foreign ministers on Monday in Brussels.
On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin held an extraordinary meeting of the Security Council. At the end of the meeting, Putin said that today he would decide on the recognition of the DPR and LPR.
“We all watched the meeting of the Security Council in Moscow with great concern and excitement. There is no doubt that all participants in the meeting pointed out that it makes sense to appeal to President (of Russia Vladimir) Putin to act in accordance with international law and the Minsk agreements, which actually means non-recognition of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions as subjects of international law,” Rau said.
