Canada bans Russian news channels RT and RT France

Ottawa on Wednesday formally banned Kremlin-controlled media outlets RT and RT France from its airwaves, saying their programming was "not consistent with Canadian broadcasting standards."

Major television service providers in Canada had already decided to stop broadcasting RT a few days after Russia's invasion of Ukraine began, with the new ban taking things one step further.
